Argos Inn

The bartenders made this a favorite Ithaca stay for me. They mix creative cocktails and always seemed to have an off-menu idea that fit whatever flavors I was after. It’s also an easy walk from the bus stops to and from NYC, which is great if you don’t have a car. A must-stay whether it’s your first Ithaca visit or a return trip.

We booked the Argos for its walkability to the Commons and the places we wanted to see, then were happily surprised by how warm and distinctive the Inn felt. We had as much fun staying in as going out: espresso in the solarium, a cocktail in the lounge, cards in one of the cozy nooks, and a wander around to take in the decor. We felt very welcome and will definitely be back. Highly recommend it if you want a memorable, unusual stay in Ithaca.

The sunroom was a real plus for me. I had water and coffee there and got some work done between checkout and my interview. My room was above the bar, so there was noise until 10:30 p.m., but I was busy preparing and it didn’t bother me. It quieted right at 10:30, and I slept well. The bed was comfortable, and the room suited my short trip. I was in Ithaca for a job interview and could walk both to the Commons and to the interview location, so I left my car in the hotel lot the whole time. The staff were friendly and offered to carry my bags upstairs, which I appreciated even though I didn’t need help. I’d stay again for the charming atmosphere, in a charming city.

The bar was a highlight, with the best Cynar Negroni I’ve ever had. In the morning, coffee and a biscotti were just right. We liked the books and artwork in our lovely third-floor room, and both the room and the public spaces felt cozy and well-appointed. The inn itself is beautiful and was a wonderful stop on our cross-country drive. It’s also within walking distance of restaurants like Food Lab and Collegetown Bagels. Can’t wait to return.
