Super 8 Ithaca

We barely slept because a sewage smell kept coming from the bathroom, even with the door shut. The lobby smelled like weed every time we walked in, too. The hotel was way overpriced for what it was, even on a busy weekend. If you can, go even one mile farther from downtown for better prices and service.

Watch out for double charges if you book through a third party. Prepaid third party reservations seem at risk of being charged twice, whether because their system has problems or the staff weren’t trained properly. Sorting it out took quite a lot of time and energy, and I regret booking here.

I went to the Super 8 Motel to stay safe during a recent snow storm. The person at the desk was very helpful and automatically applied the AAA discount, which saved me 10%. They also plowed the parking lot and dug my car out of the snow. I really appreciate that good service 🙏

The rooms are really dated, and the hotel needs a major overhaul. I’ve stayed here a few times over the years, but it just hasn’t kept up with the times. The staff are nice enough, but the mattresses badly need replacing. I can forgive a lot if I get a comfortable mattress and a good night’s sleep, and that didn’t happen here. We were on the ground floor, and the window didn’t have a lock. The screen was bent out, and there were no privacy sheers on the curtains. With so many new hotels opening in the Ithaca area, this place will have a hard time competing unless it makes serious upgrades.
