The Dorm Hotel

I loved the hotel’s quiet, small feel, and the location was great. Our room had nice wooden floors, cute decor, a spacious shower, and a large king bed with storage built underneath. I’d reserved the sophomore room, which didn’t come with a refrigerator or coffee maker, and I regretted that. The other issue was the bed. It was very tall and hard to get in and out of, even though we’re not short, and the mattress was softer than we like. We prefer a firmer one. I’d book a different room next time.

The cozy, welcoming feel and modern amenities made this a great stay. Rooms are very clean, and the location is close to campus. Joanne at the front desk is always warm and welcoming, and goes out of her way to make guests feel special. She really makes a difference, and is one of the reasons I keep coming back.

The Dorm Hotel is a solid choice for Cornell campus visits. The rooms are clean, have what you need, and the location is great for exploring campus. The only sour part was dealing with the manager. After housekeeping on September 22, my wife’s $3 normal toothbrush was missing. I mentioned it at the desk without accusing anyone, just saying it might have been thrown out by mistake. The manager got defensive right away. She said she’d cleaned the room herself, had a photographic memory, and that I must be mistaken. She also said she has dentures, so why would she steal it? For the record, my memory is normal, and I clearly remember my wife’s toothbrush on the left side of the sink before we left. It was gone when we returned. It was a strange, over the top response that made the situation worse. A simple “sorry about that” would have been enough. Anyway, we bought another toothbrush at Wegmans! It’s still a great place to stay.

The Dorm is so cute, with fun designs and decor that made me feel like I was back at school. It’s right across the street from campus, and also very convenient for the town center, with tons of cute shops and restaurants nearby. Joanne at the front desk was the best. I loved the pillow case and asked if I could buy it. They don’t normally sell them, but she made an exception and washed and dried it in time for me to leave. It’s one of my favorites now. Thank you so much! I’d definitely recommend the Dorm to anyone visiting Ithaca.
