DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Jacksonville Riverfront

The shower was hot, the bed was really comfortable, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. But the suite seems like it may have been nice years ago. Now the rooms are very outdated, with stains on the old carpet, rusted vanity legs and chipped paint. The bathroom smelled like urine. This is the second DoubleTree we've stayed at with the same issues, so we're changing brands.

The staff have always been helpful and inviting, and the service is excellent. But the hotel charges premium rates for rooms that badly need refreshing and lack common amenities. Most rooms don't have a mini fridge or microwave, and the old furniture and fixtures are often pretty beat up. Our bed wasn't comfortable, and the down pillows bunched into bricks that left me with a crick in my neck. The bathroom leaked and wasn't clean enough that I'd feel safe stepping into the shower without shoes. We were there with two other couples, and their rooms were much the same as ours across three floors. We won't be back. For the same price, the other hotels within a block are much nicer.

The room was noisy, with the elevator running loud enough to hear throughout the day, and the staff weren't friendly. For the price, I expected better. There wasn't a microwave in the room, despite what Google said, and the hotel's food choices weren't great. Uber Eats also didn't cover what I needed during my stay. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned before I arrived, and the tub had stains. The glass shower door made it awkward to turn off the hot water and scrub the tub myself. There was nowhere to plug in an iron except the bathroom, which isn't a thoughtful setup. The coffee maker was stored in a cabinet without an outlet nearby, so I had to take it out and hunt for a place to plug it in. Hilton needs to catch up with how people actually live.

The people working here were easily the best part of my stay. Everyone I encountered was kind, attentive, and professional. The room needs serious updating. Paint was peeling, and a gap around the doorway made it feel less private. The shower didn't drain properly, so the water started to pool, and there was a lingering smell. There was no refrigerator or microwave, either, which would have been useful and are usually standard. The whole place felt dated. I hope they address the room conditions so they better match the quality of the staff.
