Homewood Suites by Hilton Jacksonville-South/St. Johns Ctr.

The breakfast was surprisingly good for a hotel comp breakfast, which is usually mediocre. The scrambled eggs were the usual weak point, but there was great bacon and pulled pork, plus a build-your-own breakfast burrito setup that helped with the eggs. I travel all over Florida for work and have stayed at several Hiltons. Our room here was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I’d rank the breakfast as very decent for what it is.

The room was okay and a good size for two, though one of the bed sheets had quite a few stains. Breakfast was probably the best part, along with the location. The bigger issue was what happened with our medication. My partner and I had booked two days and went anyway because it was already paid, even though I got sick beforehand. After leaving, I called twice, and my partner called too, about prescribed medication we’d left behind. Nobody reported finding it or called me back, and I was in pain for the rest of the week. Unfortunately, the employees seemed to have a major problem with honesty.

The hotel’s location was perfect and the price seemed reasonable for it. I had a good stay overall. One concern was the toilets: they’re far too low for a tall person, so taller toilets or handrails beside them would help. That probably won’t bother most visitors. I could also smell sewage more as I got closer to the toilets. It wasn’t a strong odor or a major issue during my stay, but it could become one if it isn’t fixed.

The hotel sits right behind a town center with lots of shopping and dining, including a Target in the same area. We found the kitchen handy for bringing back food and snacks, and the free breakfast had a good range of options. Check-in was quick, the staff were friendly, and our room was clean. A wonderful place to stay.
