The long stay has been rough, and I have a child with me. I’m here temporarily until my daughter and I move into our apartment. I initially liked the location and how clean the hotel looked, but that changed as soon as I got past the lobby. The elevator smells like hot ammonia from dog pee, and the rug holds the pee and hair with no ventilation. I’ve changed rooms twice. Room 428 smelled like feet and old laundry. Room 304 had roaches in the sink and stove, and we moved at night just before closing. In the new room I still see baby roaches, though I was told the building doesn’t have a problem. I wish people cared about doing their jobs for humanity, or quit if they don’t. The rate issue yesterday left a terrible taste in my mouth. Like many guests, I renew one day at a time because that works for my situation and I don’t want to pay for more days than I need. I’d understood that the first night’s rate would stay the same each day. Yesterday morning, before the 11am checkout, I went downstairs to extend my current stay. I hadn’t left and tried to book a new room. They charged me $118, the Valentine’s Day rate. People I know who also extended one night were paying about $72 for a single room, the same rate they’d paid before. After I called the practice unethical, I was offered a credit. If they’re raising the price for Valentine’s Day, they should have the decency to honor the rate for guests already staying there, especially people paying day by day. It’s a weekend of love, and the person at the desk had cute red heart earrings, but they were upcharging people to stay in rooms with roaches. Diabolical to me, truly. And then there’s Joy. I like the name because people with it often seem joyful, but I can confirm what other reviews say about her demeanor and attitude. I don’t know what happened to her or what this job does to her, but she genuinely hates working here and everyone she speaks to. I’m a pleasant person and treated everyone respectfully, even when raising the pricing issue. The others seem oriented toward customer service, but for customer care, service, and hospitality, I’d give JOY a zero. I’ll update every platform I own when I check out.
