Country Inn Sonora

The people at check-in were very nice, but the owner needs to put some money back into the business. The Wi-Fi was awful, so don't expect to do much online. The layout was strange, with two showers and a single toilet, and no door to separate the showers for privacy. There was a hot plate and kitchen sink, two fridges, one knife and one fork, six plates, and a couple of frying pans. The room had two queen beds and could fit two or more people. It was moderately clean. Probably only worth considering on a very tight budget.

The reception staff were nice and available around the clock, which helped when our room key failed on three separate occasions. Still, having to get it fixed at different hours of the night or morning was a hassle. We also didn't realize housekeeping had to be requested until we needed more towels and toilet paper and wanted the trash taken out. There's no laundry on site, either, so you'll need to find somewhere else. The hotel is right beside a busy road, making it hard to walk anywhere. We booked a twin queen room for a week, but the layout was odd: two showers connected to a bathroom next to the kitchen, with little privacy. The room was dirty. Our feet turned completely black from walking on the floor, and the hot plate exhaust was very dusty. The room Wi-Fi didn't work for us, and I suspect the signal doesn't reach every part of the property. For a hotel at any price, the condition wasn't what I'd expect. More work and money need to go into the place.

The place was cute and clean, and I actually liked seeing all the stray cats. The staff were pretty nice, and the desk is open 24/7. But our key card or the room lock failed, so we had to go back three times before they moved us to a different room with a smaller bed.

I booked here to visit my man at the Sierra Conservation Center, about a 15 minute drive away. There isn't much around, though a couple of restaurants are about five minutes off. No EV chargers nearby are fast, so bring a portable charger or be ready to wait a long time.
