Clairmont Inn

The room was clean, but smelled stale, and the place seemed to have long-term residents. When I booked online, it claimed only one room remained, even though the hotel looked nearly deserted. The listing said there’d be a coffee pot and hair dryer, but there was neither. At checkout, I mentioned both were missing. The desk guy shrugged and walked away. I won’t be back.

The room was very dated and had an odor. I had to light a candle and spray it with Lysol. Jasper has only four hotels, as far as I know, and this is the second-worst one I’ve stayed in. I’d only return if I had no other option. The front desk man was rude from the beginning. He put us on the second floor, and when I asked twice for a first-floor room because my left knee and right ankle were both bad, he said no. When my husband went to use the dryer, the man told him we had to be out by 10:30 in the morning. My husband said we knew that, and that I knew too.

The upstairs room didn’t smell of smoke, but the floor was still dirty and the colored sheets made it hard to tell whether they were stained. The man in the office said some people smoke in the rooms. We chose to cancel and find somewhere else. He said he could refund two nights, but would charge for one because of JeepFest, claiming the hotel was booked. It was 4:40 pm and the place still didn’t look busy. We hadn’t even taken our bags out, and I’m sure someone else will end up in that room tonight. We booked through Expedia for JeepFest 2025, and I won’t use Expedia again because they didn’t stand up for customers. When we first checked in, I inspected the beds, as I normally do before my wife and kids sleep somewhere. Both beds had yellow stains on the white sheets and smelled. The non-smoking room 107 also smelled like smoke. The man offered to change the sheets, so we left to see if we could find another place. When we came back, I asked to cancel because the smoke smell would bother my wife’s asthma.

My husband paid for another night, and the next day the desk man told him, “don’t send her in here anymore.” The day before, I’d gone to the office to ask them not to disturb my husband while he rested. The man, who was Indian, said service was done for the day and was hateful and rude to me. I’ll be reporting this hotel to the Better Business Bureau.
