Madeira House

The room felt like a peaceful cocoon. The windows kept out sound so well that we left the shades up to watch the stars and moon set. From the deck, the Russian River view was stunning, especially at sunset. Clear, calm weather also made it interesting to feel how much warmer it was at sea level than inland. We treated ourselves to an after-Christmas staycation at Madeira House in Jenner, in the Osprey Room. It was cozy and thoughtfully laid out, with a firm but luxurious bed, chocolates, chips, and nuts. The gas fireplace kept us warm, and heated bathroom floors were a delightful surprise. River’s End was easy to get to for dinner, and we enjoyed being able to walk to Café Aquatica. One thing to plan for: there’s only a small market at the nearby gas station and no bar within walking distance. Next time I’ll bring a charcuterie board, wine, and spirits for drinks. We left relaxed and already looking forward to coming back. It was a peaceful, comfortable Sonoma County staycation.

The view where the Russian River meets the Pacific made our Madeira House stay feel magical. Our room was lovely all around, with a very comfortable king bed and a bathroom that had both a tub and a generous shower.

We asked about switching to a room with a water view when we arrived, and the staff member made it happen. They helped with our bags, brought out a dog bed and bowls, and made us feel welcome, even though rain was pouring outside. The views were incredible, and being right on the water felt special. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was well equipped. We could have stayed much longer. Thanks to the Madeira House team for helping us celebrate the baby on the way. A truly unforgettable overnight.

The room was big enough for two, with a roomy shower, kettle, Nespresso, mini fridge, and microwave. Water is available in the little lobby, or left outside if it’s closed, I believe. There’s a mix of old and new, with updated appliances and windows alongside an old-school-looking electric furnace. It’s right on the highway, so you can hear cars, but the road isn’t that busy and the noise wasn’t too bad. Stunning and peaceful!
