The dinner menu was reasonably priced, and Alexandra was a spectacular bartender. There’s also a small bar with a decent egg sandwich, plus plenty of nearby places if you’re happy to pay. The main thing missing for me was complimentary breakfast, especially at this price, so I’m keeping it at 4/5. I understand that serving breakfast for free takes staff and there isn’t much room for everyone, but I still want breakfast in the morning. Otherwise, I can’t fault the hotel: the location is good, it’s generally clean, and the pool and hot tub are nice bonuses.

The rooms were a real plus: clean, spacious, modern, quiet, and well kept, with comfortable beds, a fridge, and a good workspace. After a day in the city, they were a nice place to unwind. Staff were friendly, check-in was smooth, and they helped with directions and requests. The indoor pool, gym, and Bistro were handy too. Newport in Jersey City is a good, affordable base for NYC. The PATH station is only steps away on Washington Blvd, with a quick trip to WTC or Midtown. Newport Centre mall is close for shopping and food, and there are pleasant Hudson River views. It’s an easy commute with less city chaos. Strong value near Manhattan, and I’d stay again. Four stars.

The staff helped make my daughter’s birthday surprise work, even though my mom arrived before us. They kept it quiet and sent up "house keeping" only after calling to check with me, since I couldn’t say anything at check-in. Everyone we encountered was helpful and nice to talk to, and the room was great. Parking was a little confusing at first because the garage is behind the hotel and shared with other businesses, but we had no problems parking. I’d recommend the hotel and book again.

Being right by PATH makes this a handy base for city trips, with a big mall next door and plenty of good cafes just to the right of the lobby. The staff are helpful when you ask, the rooms are very clean, and the lobby fireplace and couches are a nice place to hang out. It’s a great choice, though a few small changes could improve it. The in-house 'Starbucks' charges a huge hotel markup, like $7 for a latte. In the middle of Jersey City, with so many cafes nearby, that pricing doesn’t make sense. The cafe is always empty and feels like a ghost town.

My stay was fine, but I found someone else’s clothes behind the TV stand, which makes me think that spot hadn’t been cleaned. The fitness room could use attention too. It smells strongly like pickled armpits, and its AC leaks a little, so cold drops hit your face if you’re exercising on the floor.
