The location was farther out than I wanted, so that part gets 2 stars. The rooms and service were about what you'd expect at a 3-star place, adequate and consistent. It's a dependable spot to sleep if a bit of travel doesn't bother you.

Getting to NY from the PATH train was easy when it worked, and it saved us a lot on Uber rides. The hotel is being renovated, and once that's done the inside should be even nicer. The building has no elevators, though, so if you're out of shape like me, you may have to haul your bags up three flights depending on your room. I was definitely winded, LOL. We were there during construction, so we didn't get much of a chance to enjoy breakfast, and the ice machines weren't available. The manager showed us bags of ice in a room near the office, which was handy. Inside, the hotel was nice enough, with pretty brown carpet and clean walls, though the hallways felt a little narrow when passing housekeeping carts or other guests. The manager and the women working there were so friendly and accommodating. They even held our bags on our last day so we could do a little more exploring. Thank you so much for that 💕 I gave four stars because of the night shift guy with dark hair and glasses. We came back after a long night out and asked for a bag of ice. He rolled his neck and gave us an unnecessary attitude, saying bluntly that they had no ice if the machines weren't available. He works at the hotel, so you'd think he'd know about the bagged ice in the room next door, which the manager had shown us. Please work on that attitude, buddy. It hurts the business. I avoided talking to anyone at night after that because I worried he'd be in the office the rest of our visit. Thanks to everyone else!

We stayed one night in October at The Holland Hotel, and the staff were friendly. The rooms aren't large, but they were clean, which mattered most to us, and the bathrooms were nice. Breakfast was small, with pastries and oatmeal, plus coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, and orange juice. The location worked really well. It's beside the Holland Tunnel, with easy highway access to NYC, and the PATH train is about a 10-minute walk away. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to stay outside NYC while keeping the city and highways close.

We booked a night before a cruise, and it was a convenient place to sleep, shower, and head out. The bed was comfortable, the room was nice for an older facility, and there were no bed bugs. Parking was handy for coming and going, though traffic by the hotel, at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, never really lets up. I have trouble with stairs, and the lack of an elevator was the main problem for me. The main-floor rooms were already taken. A lower-level room turned out to work better: a short flight of stairs at the hall's end led to a door opening onto the parking lot, near the ADA spaces where I parked. The location at the tunnel entrance is likely why this aged hotel is so expensive, despite having no elevator and only a small continental breakfast as a selling point.

For budget travelers who care most about comfort and cleanliness, this is a good fit. The rooms have fresh paint and dual-pane windows, and were spotless. The bathrooms look a little dated but are comfortable, with hot water on demand. Breakfast is free each day and includes assorted pastries, rolls, fruit, yogurt, coffee, and juice. They can also hold your luggage before check-in or after checkout. The Holland Hotel is well maintained, and management seems thoughtful about which improvements and amenities to prioritize. PATH, the mall, and several restaurants are all within a 10-minute walk. We had a very pleasant stay.
