Days Inn Jesup

The guy at the desk was friendly, and I thought the room was a good value for Jesup, though I wouldn’t stay again. The bed, linens, and bathroom were clean, with hot water and good pressure. There was a slight musty smell at first that went away once I turned on the AC. The AC cooled well but made noise all night and kept me from getting the rest I needed. The sign says new management. I saw one roach.

The pool was decent, though it wasn’t cold, probably because it’s outdoors in South GA during summer. Management was really nice and sorted out our room key problem quickly in the middle of the night, even after a second set failed. The desk clerk tried a third set, then got an emergency key, and we had no more trouble. They were also kind when we realized we’d booked two twin beds instead of a king. The room smelled okay, and the linens were clean, but the chair and floor were badly stained. The hallway smelled strongly of smoke. The hotel is dated, which I can live with, but it needs to be cleaner. Breakfast was terrible: a small amount of eggs, sausage, and pancakes that were burnt and cold, with no refills after they put them out once. The bananas were nearly done for, and I had to beg for coffee because breakfast was over after 35 minutes the first time.

We got a room for the night while visiting our daughter for her 18th birthday. She and her friends came by just to say hi and leave, but before they even reached the door, the front desk called demanding to know how many people were there. I explained, and the man started yelling that only two people were allowed per room. We were just talking before heading to dinner. There were no chairs or smoking areas outside, and the pool area was closed, so we couldn’t sit there. The cable didn’t work, either. I saw several roaches crawling on the wall. We won’t be back.

We were in town for a softball tournament with four kids, and I had reserved two rooms online. After I had trouble with the website, a woman at the hotel said on the phone she’d fix it when we checked in. Instead, the man at the desk was rude and yelled that each child would cost extra. He asked their ages and said a 15-year-old counted as an adult, even though each room had two double beds. When I asked to speak with the woman I’d talked to the day before, he went behind the window, got on the computer, and said he was canceling my reservation. We left and would never stay there. Quality Inn gave us the best service ever. When we told them what happened, they said they get a lot of business from people with similar experiences. I called customer care to report it; they were nice and said they’d look into my complaint.
