Candlewood Suites Joliet Southwest by IHG

Ruby helped me with a smile when I realized I'd booked the wrong dates online. She found a room for the night I actually needed. The rooms are always super clean, and Shilvia, the cleaning Manager, runs a tight shift. There's a nice outdoor fire pit too. And did I mention the super breakfast?

I was training practically next door, so I stayed here. The room was like a full apartment. There was a great gym, a spotless pool, a lovely view of the pond, plenty of lounge space, a wonderful bar and grill, and a solid breakfast. I'd love to stay here again.

I've stayed here twice and ran into issues on both trips. The room is a little smaller than at most other Candlewoods I've used, and I've stayed at many across almost every state as a work traveler and Diamond Elite IHG member who knows their services well. On my first visit, the freezer was completely frosted over. Maintenance came quickly with a heavy-duty blower and several towels, but getting it sorted took an hour. On my second visit, the first room had terrible shower pressure and temperature, barely above lukewarm, so they moved me to another room without a problem. The AC under the window had gaps on both sides that let February's cold air in. I stuffed towels into them to keep the room warmer. The TV selection was also awful for an extended-stay hotel: three channels didn't work, and sometimes the channel I was watching, along with all the others, would freeze for about 10 minutes. I probably won't return to this Candlewood.

I want to thank the whole team at IHG for their excellent service and commitment to keeping the place clean. The care they put into a welcoming, well-maintained stay came through everywhere. Elvia deserves a special mention for her warmth and friendliness, which really made my experience better. She's the kind of person who makes guests want to return. Thanks again for going above and beyond.
