Holiday Inn Express & Suites Junction by IHG

After a long night of driving, I didn’t appreciate being woken by a loud call to my room before 11 a.m. to ask if I was still there. Calling after checkout time would make sense, but before then felt crazy.

We felt safe and really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, professional, attentive, and kind. Our room was comfortable, the amenities were excellent, and the free breakfast was delicious.

Alicia and Avaselli were great at the front desk, and very friendly when we checked in. They also gave us dinner options. The room was quiet, and the staff were friendly. Definitely keepers.

On our way to Big Bend, we booked the largest room available and paid extra for the space. Before checking in, we asked staff about the smoking rules because my husband smokes. He never smokes indoors, and each time he went outside, he followed their directions to smoke near the road or at the back of the property. Staff saw him go out several times. He showered or used cologne each time he came back to avoid bringing any smoke smell into the room. Even so, we were shocked to find a $250 “cleaning fee” on our bill for smoke odor. We confirmed the policy with staff, followed it, and have stayed at plenty of hotels without ever being accused of smoking in the room. We’re extremely disappointed with how this was handled and don’t believe the charge is legitimate. If you smoke, be aware that the property may still penalize you even if you follow its rules.
