The setting is near Mendenhall Glacier, but there isn't much else nearby. Around the house I saw trash and abandoned vehicles, and the place itself is badly run down. My Goldrush room smelled like it had been smoked in. The doors have big gaps and the walls are so thin that getting any quiet or privacy seems impossible. I booked three nights and arrived to find the place overbooked. Cory, the owner, offered me the living room couch for that night and a refund for the evening, with no real apology or other effort to make up for the mistake. He later promised several times by phone that he was fixing the charge, but never did, so I had to dispute it. It was the cheapest place I could find then, but even $50 doesn't seem worth it, especially when you can't count on having the room you booked.

A quiet, tucked-away room and a well-stocked kitchen made for a cozy stay. The people were nice, and it was close to everything I needed in Juneau. There was plenty of hot water, even for long showers. The hospitality and price are hard to beat.

Andrew, the caretaker, was the only reason we lasted as long as we did. We stayed over a month, and what first looked like a good fit turned into a place with nonstop traffic and partying. The regular tenants were completely disrespectful. The heat was out for two days. Corey, the owner, was in Maui and put a Facebook ad up asking anyone to come fix it. Then he accused us of stealing the PS4 that stays in the living room. He also kept asking my girlfriend to handle things for him, like mailing him his $1,000 camera and paying for it herself. He is only concerned with money, not helping people, and treats others without respect or dignity. This place is trash, a dump that anyone with some self-respect should avoid. Corey is a joke. Sincerely, Chris from Texas

The Juneau Guest house was clean and cozy, with a full kitchen that was handy to have. Its location worked well for the things I wanted to enjoy in Juneau. I had a nice stay and would recommend it to a friend.

We ended up not staying, but Corey was very understanding and gave us a full refund. He was a really nice, hospitable host, and the rates were cheap.
