McMenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge

The river view is lovely, and the meatloaf was great. But the Hawaii 5.0 sandwich was the real surprise. It didn't look like much, yet it was one of the tastiest things I've had in a while. They have a wonderful range of craft food and drinks you don't find just anywhere.

The big wood bar right by the harbor gives the place a warm, classic waterfront feel, and the men's bathroom had a pretty funny surprise: the urinals are huge and look like they belong in a Frankenstein movie. We’re posting photos. It was a great evening with our extended family and friends, and we really enjoyed being together here. The food was a hit all around. My Swiss cheese mushroom burger was flavorful and cooked just right. Ray liked his Salisbury steak, and the cheeseburgers our friends ordered went over well too. I tried the African chicken soup, which was rich, spicy, and delicious, though I couldn't quite identify all the spices. The Cajun-seasoned tots were crispy and full of flavor as well. Thanks to our dear friends for recommending McMenamins Kalama Cove Harbor and sharing dinner with us. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

The room was below what we expected, but the staff were all so friendly. We had a great time while Eric Leadbetter was playing, and we also enjoyed visiting the market. It was an amazing stay, and we'll definitely come back.

That giant authentic Totem Pole inside Mountain Timber Market was worth stopping in for on its own. We browsed and shopped there after taking a walk along the Waterfront. Earlier, we had lunch at the upstairs bar with a view of the river. We could see ourselves returning in summer to eat outdoors.
