Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kalamazoo

The grounds need a lot of attention. Better landscaping would make the outside feel much more welcoming and attractive. Inside, my room was clean and the staff were friendly, so I had a positive stay overall. I’ll probably come back.

I ended up leaving without staying, but I was still charged for all three nights and my deposit hasn’t been returned. Expedia has tried to reach the hotel, as have I, but the listed phone number doesn’t connect. When I went back in person, someone assured me it would be handled, and it still hasn’t been. I booked through Expedia for three nights, then had a string of room problems: my first room had no refrigerator, which I needed; the second smelled strongly of cigarette smoke despite being marked non-smoking; and the third was dirty, with an unmade bed, clothes, and trash left around. By then the front desk had no rooms left, so I went elsewhere. Expedia says it can’t get hold of the hotel either. I’d avoid this place.

The breakfast was a letdown, with hardly any protein, though I suppose that’s common for hotels at this price. We still enjoyed staying here: the staff were great and the room was very comfortable. I’d stay again.

Pam was amazing, and the staff were friendly and attentive to guests. I didn’t run into any problems during my stay. There are several places to eat and gas stations nearby, and each floor has a vending machine.
