Candlewood Suites Kansas City Speedway by IHG

We got stuck in a snowstorm and were lucky to find an incredible room here. The kitchen came stocked with the basics, and the bed and pillow were comfortable. Best of all, there weren't any strong scents on the sheets, thank god. This was a great extended stay.

I couldn't shower comfortably because the water was cold. The room was dirty, smelled strongly unpleasant, and had roaches. When I asked for help in the morning, there was no hotel manager on duty. The front desk representative was rude and unprofessional, and when I tried to speak privately about the problems, she showed no interest in resolving them. I used to work for IHG Hotels & Resorts, so I know the service and standards the brand typically maintains. This property fell far below what I expected, with disorganization and a lack of cleanliness unlike anything I've experienced at an IHG property. The stay did not reflect IHG's hospitality, and based on my experience I would not recommend this facility.

The location worked well for work, restaurants, and shopping, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms feel a little dated, but they're kept clean and comfortable. For some reason the key cards always seem to have it in for me at this location, though the front desk sorts it out every time.

Whenever I'm in Kansas City, this is going to be my go-to place. It's peaceful, spotless, and close to everything I need. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and professional. Big thanks to Dipen, Valery, Shannon, and Rosa for the great service and for making sure my stays are wonderful.
