The room looked and smelled filthy from the start. Our supposedly non-smoking room reeked of old smoke, and the air conditioner made it worse. There was mold on the shower curtain, a strange stain by the sink, peeling bathroom ceiling, and a couch covered in Sharpie. The bedspread and sheet underneath were stained too. A battered Zenith TV looked like a replacement for the one missing from the wall, where the mounting holes were still visible. The door latched but wobbled back and forth, as if it might have been broken into before. At checkout, I told the desk clerk about all of it. He said the manager might call about a discount on the $100 we paid, and offered 25%, but I doubt anything will come of it. The parking lot felt even scarier than the room. Given the choice, I'd have slept in my car. I would give zero stars if I could. Don't stay here.

The room looked clean at first, but ants were everywhere, so badly we even found them crawling around our car on the drive home. The stairs were falling apart, and a pile of what looked like human poop, though I really hope it was dog poop, sat on the landing for both days of our June 2014 stay by the pool. Breakfast was poor, with no fresh or perishable choices like yogurt or fruit. Some of the other guests made us uneasy, and after breakfast we saw a woman who looked like a sex worker leave a room and walk away from the hotel. It was the worst hotel stay my family and I have had. We can't recommend it.

Once inside, the room had a powerful smell of stale cigarettes and urine. I couldn't tell whether it was human, animal, or both. There was a bug on each bedspread, the bathroom was filthy with broken tiles around the tub, and the window had a white calcium film. A gap around the door let sunlight in. It was over 100 outside and just as hot in the room, even with the AC running full blast and blowing no cold air. The smoke detector hung off the wall, yellowed with tar stains. We left right away. The woman at the counter was nice and offered another room, saying she hadn't known this one was that bad. The lobby smelled strange, the outside was dirty with trash, dead plants, a large taped-off hole and a bobcat. The stairs to the upper floor were filthy, sagging, and in disrepair. We also thought we saw a drug deal in the parking lot. I believe a woman came into the lobby asking about renting a room for a couple of hours and went to get cash. It was frightening. I can't understand how the health department hasn't closed the place.

We should've left in the first half hour and driven somewhere else, but we were exhausted. Big mistake. I didn't sleep at all, and was relieved to get out at 6 AM. We didn't dare try breakfast. The room was filthy, with a smell I'll never forget, and the AC didn't work. It smelled strongly of mold, probably the worst I've encountered. The desk clerk was kind, and I felt bad that she had to work in a place like that. I can't believe it stays open or that Day's Inn lets it use its name.
