Holiday Inn Express Kansas City-Liberty by IHG

The bed was great, though the pillows weren’t comfortable. I liked the pool and the lighted mirror. The toilet and shower room is separate from the lavatory. Breakfast was okay, and the pancake machine was cool. The pancakes were pretty good too.

I checked out a day early because the marijuana smell was so bad and the noise all night was too much. My headboard was against the stairwell wall, and people kept coming and going on the stairs. They put me in the last room at the end of the hallway and wouldn’t let me change it because I booked through Priceline. There were large construction trucks and trailers parked near the entrance. Holiday Inn isn’t what it used to be. The day shift woman needs to put down her phone and learn basic customer service.

We’re in the Kansas City area often, but won’t return to this property. The king room and bathroom were smaller than any other Holiday Inn Express we’ve stayed at. The bathroom wasn’t very clean: a blue piece of plastic from a previous guest was on the floor, so it hadn’t been swept, and the grout was black with dirt. The room photos showed an upholstered chair, but there wasn’t one. When I asked at checkout, I was told not all rooms have them. We’ve stayed at many Holiday Inn Express locations around the US, and this one was the most disappointing.

Completely disgusting, and I wouldn’t give this place a star if the site allowed it. We stayed here because we’d used a few other Holiday Inn Express hotels before. Dawn, the manager, was extremely rude to us twice when we tried for an early check-in. I understand they were busy, but we didn’t know that then. Front desk staff shouldn’t tell people they can try for early check-in on game weekends. On our second night, around 11:30 p.m., my daughter dropped her phone beside the bed. When she reached down, she found underwear between the mattress and box spring. If housekeeping had changed the sheets, it would’ve been found, so the sheets were obviously dirty. The hotel only wants to give us a few points because we booked through a third party. The third party won’t do anything because hotel management, Dawn, thinks 38 points is acceptable. Never again. These hotels are usually nice, which makes this especially disappointing.
