Tanisha was so sweet and arranged a late checkout at 4 PM for me. I know that depends on capacity and the hotel’s schedule, but it gave me a place to rest and helped fill the time before my evening flight. Wayne at the bar was also amazing, patient with our lively group. We had a pool table, which gave us a reason to laugh and celebrate someone we’d come to say goodbye to. This was a heavy trip for a celebration of life, and the staff’s kindness meant a lot. I picked the hotel more or less at random from Google for my short Kansas City stay, and I loved every part of it. Later I learned the aloft side is only three years old. The rooms were modern, though I found all the numbers on the window shades a little confusing, and the circuit-board-looking thing on the wall was weird. I work with engineers who design printed circuit boards, but I love weird! If I come back to Kansas City, I’ll stay here. If you’re deciding, just book it. They also have a steamer for wrinkles, hell yeah!

The staff were friendly and helpful from beginning to end, and the rooms were clean with great amenities. We were less than five minutes’ walk from the hospital I needed to be at the next day, and the well-lit parking area felt safe. The dispenser was out of shampoo and the sink drained slowly, but we mentioned both to the front desk on our way to dinner and they’d fixed the sink by the time we got back two hours later. We’d recommend the Aloft to friends and family. Thanks for a great stay, see you next time we’re in town. TnT

I felt very secure here. You need your key card for the parking area, the hotel entrance, and the elevator, and the garage elevator has a locked, enclosed foyer where you can wait safely. The hotel was clean and fun, with lovely common spaces. Staff were friendly, helpful, courteous, and accommodating. I’d stay again and look for other Alofts, too. A small complimentary bite with my morning coffee would have made the experience even better. It doesn’t need to be a full hot breakfast. Even so, this was one of my best hotel stays.

The shower water was blazing hot and wouldn’t adjust. We told the hotel, but they didn’t seem to care. I was also charged twice for parking. Getting a refund turned into a drawn-out fight. The call center was polite and opened a case whenever I called, but then the hotel would request more information without notifying me. Every couple of weeks I’d call back and learn my case had been closed because I hadn’t sent the information they’d supposedly requested. That happened three or four times. They seemed to be counting on me giving up, but I kept at it and sent receipts, credit card charges, and whatever else they asked for. They still said there wasn’t enough evidence to show I’d been charged twice. I told them I’d leave a poor review. This could have been a simple matter, but they made it into one. The management was very disrespectful.

I had a great time, and I’ll be back. The front desk agents, both the woman and the man, treated me very well, and the bartender was friendly too. You can walk everywhere from the Country Club Plaza area. Of the city’s hotels with the same star rating, this is the coolest one, with a pool table, ping pong, and a terrace with a fire feature. The only drawback was that I couldn’t pay cash for breakfast. The front desk agent made an exception for me, though. I had a really good time, highly recommended!
