Timbers Kauai Ocean Club & Residences

The suite had plenty of room and the resort was very nice. My only gripe was breakfast at the on-site restaurant, where the menu was really limited. Changing it up a few times a week would fix that. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

For a daytime visit, this is a beautiful spot. Have lunch or dinner, enjoy the park and beach feel, take plenty of pictures, then head home. For an overnight or longer stay, though, there are better options. The property and scenery are five stars, and it could suit someone looking for a quiet, secluded place to live or retire, especially if they bring in all their groceries. The nearest beach is a five minute drive, and Safeway is about eleven minutes away. There is only one restaurant on site, so choices are limited, and there is no 24 hour room service. Anyone expecting the pampering and on-demand service of a traditional five star resort will likely be disappointed. The staff need more time and training to reach that level. Service from employees was mixed. Some were great, while others seemed less experienced. Housekeeping was a major problem in our three bedroom, three and a half bath apartment: they cleaned only one bathroom and said they had “forgotten” the rest. The next day, they left some of the trash unemptied. When we asked to have linen changed on the used beds, the front desk said it was done only weekly and daily changes would cost extra. After checking with a superior, he said they'd do it without charge. That left me with the impression the newer staff still had a lot to learn.

We've stopped here for lunch on previous trips to Kauai, and the setting is about as good as it gets. The food is amazing, and our server gave excellent service.

Makayla was so patient and kind with my brother, who has autism. She really went out of her way to make him happy. My mom still can't stop talking about the farm tour she did with Makayla. She's just the best.
