La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kearney

The front desk staff were very nice, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I called to book a dog friendly room and was charged a lot more than I could have paid by booking online. The beds were so high that my elderly mother had a hard time getting into one. The pillows were horrible, tightly packed into a strange square shape and hard to fluff. The rooms look fine at first, but looking closer, the baseboards were dusty and dirty, like they never get cleaned.

We stay here whenever we come through town. The property is well kept inside and out, and our room was clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We paid more than at the place next door because the girl at the front desk said the breakfast here was really good. That wasn’t right. I didn’t expect a 5-star restaurant, but I did expect decent food and a clean breakfast area. At 8:15, the coffee was gone, there was no cream, and there were no biscuits. The eggs were cold and dry. The coffee itself was good, and so was the single serving of yogurt, but the place was filthy. We ate there because travel isn’t cheap and we’d expected a decent breakfast, though we could have gone elsewhere. When we told the girl at the desk they were out of things, she said she’d tell the “kitchen guy” and went back to her phone. No one seemed to care. We don’t usually complain, but other travelers should know. I’d really like my money back, though I’m sure that won’t happen. Lesson learned.

We appreciated the senior discount, and the staff were friendly. The hotel is in a cul-de-sac not far from I-80, with lovely landscaping and plenty of space to walk a dog. There are also dog waste bag stations outside, which I really appreciate. It’s clean, comfortable, and dog friendly. Kearney has all sorts of restaurants and businesses for things you might need while traveling. A great stop when driving through Nebraska.
