The Lodge at Turbat's Creek

The heated pool was nice, and the place was quiet. Our room was super clean and the beds were really comfortable. Sophia at the office welcomed us as soon as we arrived and helped us pick restaurants and things to do around the area. We had a great stay and will be back!

The location is the one drawback. It’s too far to walk into town or to get food, though that does make it quiet. Everything else was amazing. Sophie behind the counter was so welcoming and comforting, and took her time giving us knowledgeable local recommendations. The photos didn’t do the place justice. When we arrived, I was astonished by how nicely updated it was, and how much care had gone into the details, from the crisp paint with no runs to the room itself. The room was basic, but just as thoughtfully finished as the outside, with a pleasant light smell and everything clean. No complaints about the property. I’d recommend it to anyone.

The place was okay, but only okay. I know it’s a motel and understand the price point, and wasn’t expecting the Taj Mahal. Still, it didn’t live up to the five-star reviews, and I’ve stayed in five-star motels. The garbage near our room smelled strongly of fish. The rooms were just eh, and could use new flooring instead of carpet. The bathroom didn’t feel very clean, and the beds were uncomfortable. A few simple improvements would have made a difference. I’m not sure the reviews are accurate, so go in with lower expectations.

Sophie at the front desk was warm and welcoming without needing to be asked, and got out a map to point out things to do and places to eat. When she learned it was my daughter’s birthday, she gave her a hug, which was very sweet. We were pleasantly surprised by the whole stay. It’s a classic motel, so not high end, and we don’t usually expect much from a motel in a new place. But we were pleased with how comfortable and clean it was: good beds, fluffy pillows, and clean bathrooms. There was also a very nice continental breakfast spread in the morning.
