We booked two days but left right away because the room was dirty and had no towels, clean linens, heat, or TV. The room key system was down, so staff had to use a metal device under the door to let us in. We couldn't come and go without leaving the door open or having them open it each time. Even though we left immediately, they didn't check us out and charged $619. They haven't refunded us or answered calls from us or customer service. Stay away from this hotel.

The room itself was okay: the A/C worked well, the bathroom was roomy, and the bed was comfortable. But the lock wouldn't catch unless I lifted the door hard, and my wife couldn't open it when it was locked, so I had to be around to open and close it. The room smelled strongly of bleach. There was a desk, but the chair's wheels barely worked, its height wouldn't adjust, and it made a loud click when I got in or out. The TV was an LG with no smart features or HDMI, and there were no USB ports in the lamps or outlets. They were strange choices for a 2025 hotel. Outside the lobby, there was an unpleasant chemical smell, maybe glue, in the upstairs hall too. About half a dozen machines looked like dehumidifiers or air filters. The parking lot was dreadful: hard-to-spot entrances on both roads, potholes and rough patches, trash, a full dumpster, and construction equipment taking up much of the space. The lobby was a different story, clean and shiny, with an interesting floor, lots of art, a few statues, and trumpets and saxophones over the main archway. The desk said the restaurant was closed for construction, something we hadn't been told when booking. There's a bar area past the desk, but all week I saw no staff there or sign it was open. I asked the desk for a wine key since we had bought wine, but she didn't know what I meant; after I explained, she checked and said they had nothing like it. The location is awkward too. On one side, five lanes of traffic each way separate the hotel from the convenience store. At the other exit you can't turn left, so you have to go right and make a U-turn farther down because you can't do it at the next light. Everything is in the other direction. I wouldn't recommend this for more than a night after a delayed flight. The first impression, the parking lot, is rough.

The lobby looked nice, but the rest of the hotel felt more like two stars than the four Google shows. At check-in, a computer problem meant they couldn't get us registered. Once we made it to the room, its lock didn't work, so we had to haul all our luggage back to the desk for a different room. Then the fire alarm in the room next door kept beeping because of some kind of problem there. We reported it and it was fixed within 30 minutes. The rooms have apparently been remodeled, but still look dated, and the hallways stayed messy throughout our visit. The hotel was generally dirty.

The front desk manager, Chay, was the only good part of this stay. She was lovely, apologized, and found us a decent room. Before that, the night auditor was rude from the start, playing her own music loudly, with lots of swear words, and showing no interest in greeting us. The first room she gave us was occupied. When I went back down, she snapped as if that were our fault and didn't apologize. The next room's lock didn't work, and when I returned a second time she was rude again and gave me another room. That one was filthy, with ashes on the dresser and just one face towel in the bathroom, which had a pubic hair on it. The elevator wasn't working, and nobody had told us. On my third trip down, the auditor scolded me, saying she'd already moved me twice, then rudely told me to wait when I asked for another room. I came in late to visit family and attend the Chris brown concert, and honestly would've been better off sleeping in my car. The next day, I asked to speak with the GM. She didn't want to come out of the back office, and when she finally did, she was just as rude as the night auditor, maybe worse. She laughed when I described what happened, as if I were lying, and seemed unaware of the poor cleaning, which is the hotel's biggest struggle in the reviews. When I asked for compensation, she said I didn't have to stay and could leave if I wanted. She also said I wouldn't get a refund for the rest of my trip if I left. This was my worst hotel experience. With better leadership, the place could be great, but under the current GM I can see why the reviews are so poor. The owners should reconsider who's running it. Maybe the front desk manager should be GM instead; she understands customer service. Under the current leadership, I think the hotel will keep failing.

The hotel has plenty of parking and meeting space for small conventions, and it's close to the airport. After extensive renovations, the entrance is fabulous and the lobby looks better than any hotel in the Metairie/ Kenner area. The Brick Oven next door isn't a restaurant we'd recommend, but still, give this Wyndham a try. They really do their best to stand out.
