Ashley was amazing with our situation, handling it kindly and efficiently, and the staff overall were extremely helpful and professional. We stayed at the campground for two weeks. It was well kept, and the bathhouse we used was spacious and clean. I would’ve given it five stars, but the weekenders and seasonals weren’t friendly. From Thursday through Sunday they were loud, unruly, and took over the park.
There’s lots to do outside the campground, and we liked the waterfalls most. We’ll make the five-hour trip back. The staff we met were polite and attentive. Finding your way around takes a little effort the first time because the roads go all over, but it’s manageable once you get your bearings. The nearby bathhouse had no working showers, though there’s a larger one across the park that does. The water has a smell like a taco fart. I’m sure it’s safe, but showering in it is almost gag-inducing. We also aren’t fans of assigned spots. It had rained before we arrived and our spot had about two inches of water in it, though it seemed to drain pretty quickly.
There are plenty of activities for kids, including crafts, a wagon ride, a pool, and other things, but I don’t have kids. Our site was extremely small and narrow, though there are a few bigger ones. We had trouble with the cable after arriving. The woman in the office was rude, said she’d call back, and never did. Around 6:30 pm on a 97-degree day, we had an electrical problem, but the office was closed. The after-hours emergency number went unanswered, and the mailbox was full. That’s unacceptable. Between that, the tiny site, and the rude office interaction, I wouldn’t stay here again.
We had plenty of room at site #36, including space for our jeep, and the staff were friendly. There’s a campground trail down to the Creek, too. We took the dogs hiking at Lake Minnewaska, which was beautiful, and got great food from the La Rita Del Sol food truck at Arrowood Farms, about half a mile away. We were there for a long weekend and would definitely come back.
This time we stayed at a tent site because the smaller cabins were all booked. Check-in was easy, the staff were super friendly, and we got a perfect little spot with trees around us. We walked to the concert at Arrowood Farm Brewery and back, made a small fire, and fell asleep to the frogs and bugs. A few years ago, we rented a cabin here for one night while going to a concert there. It was lovely, clean, and neat. They offer tent camping, RV spots, and cabins, and we love this campsite. In the morning we tidied up, packed the car, and headed home. We’d 100% camp here again.
