Pennay’s is in a great spot for skiing, just a very short walk from the River Run base area. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating, and I’d stay at Pennay’s again because of the location. I’d avoid Unit 4, though. That two-bedroom unit was underwhelming. Both bedrooms are quite small, and the living areas are much smaller than the photos suggest. With almost no natural light and very low ceilings, it feels dark. Not having a dishwasher is a nuisance, and despite the claim that all two-bedroom units have a washer and dryer, Unit 4 has neither.

I haven’t stayed here myself, but the location is about as close to ski-in, ski-out as you can get. I have a place across the street. Could the property manager please take down the exterior window lighting? The blinding LED glow shines across the way, ruins the lovely look, and makes it look more like Hollywood Squares.

We had nine people, six in Unit 1 and three in Unit 19. The location, overall accommodations, and staff were great, and I’d stay again with a few things in mind. Unit 1’s oven had aluminum foil at the bottom that wasn’t clean and made a lot of smoke the first time we used it. Its washer didn’t work until the last day. In Unit 19, the fireplace still hadn’t been fixed after we were told it would be repaired in a couple of days. We gave the owners a chance to compensate us, but they didn’t. Future guests may want to get something in writing if an issue like this comes up.

Cheri and Alan were wonderful hosts, and the unit was large with its own private hot tub. The mountain is as close as it gets, and downtown Ketchum, with plenty of places to eat or grab a drink, is about a 10-minute walk away. For our first Sun Valley trip, we couldn’t have picked a better place. We look forward to coming back!

I’ve been coming here since 2008 and always look forward to another stay. Alan is hands down the nicest, happiest owner I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
