Tamarack Lodge Sun Valley

Great location, a great bed, and staff who felt four-star. The rooms are a little worn, though. I’d call the hotel two-star with four-star staff.

We were heading north and stayed for one quiet off-season night. There seemed to be only a few guests in the hotel. The young woman who checked us in was lovely and suggested a dinner spot that turned out to be just right.

I was really disappointed by the booking process and service at Tamarack Lodge. I made my reservation by phone, but nobody mentioned or offered the Idaho Residency Discount. When I asked about it at check-in, staff said they couldn’t do anything to help. Later I called about my receipt and raised the discount again. The representative was dismissive and unprofessional, kept talking over me, and belittled me instead of trying to address the concern. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, but I want other guests to know about the poor service and treatment I received so they don’t have the same experience.

I stayed for about eight days and loved it. I felt very safe here as a solo traveler, and the location made it easy to leave my car at the hotel and walk around town, shop, or grab food. The room was cozy and very clean, and I enjoyed having coffee on the balcony. The shower pressure was amazing, and customer service was great, with very quick replies. Garbage trucks made some noise in the early morning, but it wasn’t too bad. I’d stay here again, 10/10!
