I had a fun five-day stay at Key Lime Cottages in Jan 2026 for a sailing course and vacation, and expect to come back. The staff were great, and my room was cute and clean, with a reasonably stocked kitchenette. Parking was limited but adequate. Each room had a boat with safety equipment and an outboard, though weather restrictions kept me from taking one out solo. The dockmaster puts safety first. I did get out on the water for the course, and the captains and instructors were expert, good teachers. Restaurants, stores, and a laundromat are an easy walk away, with a supermarket and attractions a short drive away.

Jenn took care of everything we needed and then some, and was a big part of why our birthday trip was such a hit. I stayed at Key Lime Sailing Club and Cottages with four girlfriends, and we loved having plenty to do on the property and nearby. We spent our time sailing, swimming, watching sunsets, getting drinks at nearby restaurants and bars, and relaxing. Every cottage comes with a small sailboat, and the captain explains where you can go. I'm newer to sailing, but felt comfortable taking my friends out on their 25' boat. If you love the water and a laid-back vibe, this is the place. We'll definitely tell friends from my sailing club and hope to return.

The team was eager to make our stay memorable, and Jen handled the whole property with such care and ease. We stayed in the captains cottage, the 37’ catamaran, and the jungle room, and also toured the owners cottage, which was amazing. The homes were spotless, and the kitchen had everything for cooking a week's worth of meals. Coffee maker and filters, beach towels, and fluffy bath towels like a St Regis were all there. The well-used equipment gave us no trouble, and we didn't see other guests having issues either. It's waterfront, with sunsets and water sports, and the vibe is super chill. No loud music, just mellow waves and a few Bluetooth speakers on porches that you only hear if you want to. You can socialize with staff and other guests as much or as little as you like. Lots of restaurants are within walking distance, and stores are close by for provisions, with Instacart available. Tell them if you're celebrating something special, they'll add to the magic. We can't wait to come back. A one of a kind experience.

Maybe my wife and I just had a particularly bad experience, but something seemed to have gone badly wrong here. After a four-hour drive, we left as soon as we could, stayed only one grim night of the two we'd paid for, and got no refund. We left more than 300 + dollars behind just to move on. We'd never done that before. The total mistake cost us over 700$. The booking emails made it painfully clear that a refund wasn't going to happen. Finding the property was a struggle. There was zero signage on RT 1 South, so we made three difficult highway about faces and finally called after a long day on the road. Jenn, the only reason I'd give any stars beyond zero, answered and went to the roadside to flag us in. She told us to look for an orange pick-up truck with a boat on a trailer when heading south. Sure enuff, that was a reasonable clue, but beside it were dozens of derelict vehicles, boats, and other debris and trash. The owner, perhaps named Paul, seemed to have hoarded it over the decades while running the place into the ground. We had to drive through all of that to reach what they call the “resort.” My spouse and I are a mere 70, but we'd never seen anything like it. Our room, “Wyoming,” was dark and dirty, with a ceiling perhaps 7 feet high and windows facing a picket fence a couple feet away. The tiny grimy outdoor area had nothing to draw us out. The bathroom sink had multiple cracks, and the bathroom doubled kinda as a shower. One of the two small piers looked like an accident waiting to happen, falling none too slowly into the bay. As a boat captain by trade, I thought the rental sailing vessels looked sketchy, and didn't want to board or get close. If Florida was paying attention, they'd shut the place down el pronto before someone got hurt or sick. Calling this “old Florida” insults what the state used to be. My earliest Florida memories go back to the sixties, and they're fond ones. This is a sadly rundown property that seems to have ignored maintenance and customer satisfaction. They emailed me asking for my “Key Lime Sailing Club Memories,” so here they are. Sorry to be so harsh. We've never been this harsh before, but this was a first for us in several ways. I wish you all well in your travels. David

The beach and sailing are wonderful, and the location is central yet quiet. The facilities are rustic but clean, and everything works. Staff are friendly and attentive. A perfect getaway for sailors.
