Holiday Inn Key Largo by IHG

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and Sharika C checked on us every day to make sure we were happy. We appreciated her great service and will definitely return on our next Keys trip. The hotel's location is handy, too. We could walk next door to Key Largo Princess Glass Boat Tours, Dunkin, and a grocery store, and leave the car at the hotel. Restaurants, shops, parks, boats, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, paragliding, boating, and camping are all nearby. We had a lovely room with two very comfortable queen beds and four exceptionally comfortable pillows in different softnesses, from soft to medium firm to firm, though I can't remember the fourth. My knees thank you, too. The clean bathroom had a grab bar and good lighting at the double sink, both regular and softer. The bedroom table was a good size for eating and doing makeup. We asked for a first-floor pool view, but couldn't actually see the pool, lol. The a/c worked well. We enjoyed all the amenities, especially the large waterfall pool with perfect water temperature. There's a second pool and a large hot tub, too. Watching the birds and iguanas was a treat. Bogie's Cafe in the outdoor tiki hut by the pool was fabulous. The food and drinks were good, and the guys there were friendly and gave great service. The palm trees and foliage were spectacular.

We needed to work remotely during our stay, but the Wi-Fi was unreliable and mostly unusable, so neither my husband nor I could work from the hotel. In 2026, working Wi-Fi should be a given at a hotel like this. Water was shut off twice, with poor communication both times. On 2/23, we only got a text after it was already off, saying it would be back within an hour. It took nearly two. Then on 2/25 it went off without warning while my husband was in the shower covered in soap. I had to call the front desk on my cell because the in-room phone's buttons didn't work and it wouldn't dial them. At first the staff seemed unaware of the outage. They said water would be back "within two minutes," but it took over twenty. No apology or accommodation was offered for losing a basic amenity. The staff were cordial, but given these repeated problems, they weren't especially friendly or solution-oriented. We know maintenance issues happen, but cutting off water without notice and giving no meaningful acknowledgment afterward is unacceptable. Future guests should know before booking.

We stayed for three days and never got Wi-Fi in our room. When we asked at the desk, they told us we could use it in the lobby, and it seemed clear the room situation wasn't going to change. The old hotel sits on the main drag, and while the staff were friendly and the room was clean, it's not a good fit if you want quiet, privacy, or Wi-Fi. We could hear our neighbors talking and their dog. I'm an early riser, but the door sits right by the beds, so there was no way for me to leave without waking my husband.

Many of us are members, too, but we felt completely overlooked. I understand loyalty status can affect room assignments, yet after waiting since 7:00 a.m., it was upsetting to watch two buses leave while our rooms were still unavailable, and see several rooms go to walk-in guests. Our company had booked a conference room for the whole day and numerous guest rooms for employees and spouses. Despite that large reservation, many of us were left waiting in the lobby for hours. A hotel hosting a corporate group should plan and communicate better. It's disappointing that customer service still hasn't improved after we gave feedback last year.
