Key Largo Cottages

We spotted manatees from the dock on several days, and dolphins while kayaking in the bay. Of course, wildlife sightings aren't guaranteed. The rooms were clean, if a bit dated, and the Wi-Fi worked well. I also liked the quirky decor. The staff were helpful with kayak gear and local suggestions, and the whole place had a relaxed feel. One guest called it “sailors summer camp,” though not everyone there could sail. Great service and location.

Paul ⛵️ was awesome. My family and I had our best Florida Keys experience here, from the cottages and sailing to drinks at the Tiki Bar. I even got some alone time with my beautiful wife, wink wink. We think Key Largo Cottages is the best getaway in Key Largo and across the Keys.

This review is for Pelican Key Largo Cottages. There seem to be Sailing Club reviews mixed in, and I got the places confused too. I'm trying to move this review to Pelican Key Largo Cottages. My apologies to the owners of Key Largo Cottages. We paid $159.00 in advance for an economy room, and it was a huge disappointment. It was barely bigger than a king-sized bed, with no usable window because the a/c unit blocked the light. There wasn't enough space to open our suitcase. With no pictures or posters on the walls, it felt like a jail cell. The bedspread looked questionable, and I couldn't tell when it had last been washed. We checked out after an hour. There was no refund on the prepaid room, but losing the money beat staying there. The property also didn't match the pictures. Only a few cottages have an ocean view, and the beach photo is misleading: most of it isn't open and pristine. There are three boat ramps, and the water has engine fuel in it. The main photo doesn't look like the actual property, and the photography seems heavily misleading. The place looks like it's from the 70s, with no updates since then. On a hot day like the one we visited, there's nowhere public with a/c to cool off.

It's always a good time here. You get a cute cottage on the bay, water toys, fishing gear, and even a free 22 foot sailboat to use during your stay. I can't think of another place in the Keys that offers all that. Unless you're after an ensuite massage, I'm not sure why you'd stay anywhere else.
