Duval House

Duval House has a lot of charm, and I can’t wait to return. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were attentive and professional, keeping everything running smoothly. The room was thoughtfully prepared, which made the stay feel relaxing and easy.

The grounds were beautiful, the room was really comfortable, and the ladies serving breakfast were some of the nicest people we met. Breakfast was minimal but handy for a quick morning bite. Water pressure was weak, and the toilet didn’t want to flush. We were only given two towels for four nights, but I went to the desk and got more. It’s a bit far from the Mallory Square area, though walkable. Scooter, bike and golf cart rentals right next door were convenient when we didn’t feel like walking.

The garden is beautifully landscaped, with intimate seating spots to wander through, and the heated pool is in the back. Breakfast in the garden was wonderful. Still, the main reason to stay is the location, near the middle of Duval Street and walkable to plenty of restaurants, shops, souvenir stands, and attractions. Duval House is an old rustic Key West home converted into a hotel. We had a Cabana Room, which is pricey anywhere but especially here in Key West. It has a bed, two night tables with lights, and a chair. There’s also a folding ironing board, though I’d be hard pressed to find room to set it up. On our first stay, the shower was so tiny that dropping the soap would have meant stepping out of the stall to pick it up. This time the recently remodeled Cabana Room had a slightly larger shower, but I wisely didn’t try the soap-drop test.

The staff made us feel like we were staying with family. Our room was clean, the pool was lovely, and the location couldn’t be better. We really enjoyed the adult community and would love to come back someday.
