Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Key West

We paid $477 including taxes for one night, plus a $25 daily amenity fee that was supposed to include transportation to downtown Key West, which we never used. At close to $500 for this condition, the price was far too high. The friendly staff and decent breakfast were the only positives. The photos make the hotel look much better than it is in person. The room was tiny, and the whole property felt very old and outdated. Furniture, bathroom, and the rest of the hotel all looked worn. The bathroom was in poor shape, with almost no basics: no toothbrushes, toothpaste, or toiletries, just one small bar of soap. The air conditioner was so loud it sounded like a tractor running all night, making sleep difficult. This stay was seriously overpriced and disappointing.

We enjoyed our one-night stay, and the rooms were big enough for us. The place did feel a bit outdated for what we paid, especially compared with another hotel where we stayed that had an ocean view. Still, rooms sell out quickly, and Friday stays would usually cost more. The pool and bar area were nice. Many blessings for 2026.

The room was clean and a decent size, the pool was nice, and the free breakfast had a full selection. Service was good, too. The price was in line with being outside the historic area, though the location was still convenient, with a short drive to the historic area and grocery stores and other amenities nearby. This is a dated property and doesn’t feel like a typical Marriott. Some rooms already had updates, including comfortable beds, and when we left they were renovating a few rooms at a time. The work didn’t disturb us, but it would have been nice to have an updated room. Since it costs substantially less than staying in the historic area, I’d recommend it to budget-conscious travelers looking for a clean, family-friendly place, as long as they know it may not meet most Marriott expectations until renovations are complete. For accessibility, there was a pool lift chair, but its battery wasn’t charged when we tried to use it. I’d recommend contacting them ahead so they can charge it. Our wheelchair-accessible room worked well, with an elevator, an accessible shower, and a sink that was easy to roll up to. The bed was standard hotel height rather than lowered, which was inconvenient but workable for us.

The breakfast by the pool was great, and the shuttle looked roomy and comfortable, though we didn’t use it. The beds were cozy and the rooms clean, just on the small side, especially the very tiny bathrooms. They work well if you’re mostly out exploring. Check-in was easy, but I felt rushed when trying to make a couple of adjustments and had to speak over the front desk staff to get them done. Poolside drinks were tasty but pricey. The bar food was a letdown for the cost: more than $60 for chewy chicken tenders, okay fries, and chips covered in melted cheese. It seemed like microwave food. If you’re hungry, I’d go with DoorDash. And a shout-out to Shelly, if I’ve got her name right. She was so friendly and made my day just by chatting with me.
