The Cabana Inn Key West - Adults Only

I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels and family-owned inns, and this one would be near the bottom for me. There’s a hidden $100 fee on arrival, plus parking charges if you have a car, even though the spaces are extremely cramped. The floor slopes throughout the room and you feel it with every step. Wall wood was rotted, metal hangers badly rusted, and the bathroom smelled moldy. The sink wasn’t attached and seemed like it could tip if someone leaned on it. The shower never got hot and had terrible pressure. The toilet area was so cramped my leg wouldn’t fit in front of me. I had to remove the toilet paper roll from the wall and tuck my leg awkwardly just to sit facing forward.

We paid a very high price for below-average accommodations. The bed sagged badly, paint was peeling, the bath light didn’t work, and the window blind was broken. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, which was old and outdated, and the pool and hot tub were very dirty and poorly maintained. It was also very loud at night. Parking fees were added when we arrived.

We booked six rooms for July 11-18 at a confirmed weekly rate of $2,500 to $2,800, then asked to add three rooms for the same stay. The hotel quoted over $5,000 more for that week for the same room type, saying it was due to availability. But the rooms for the week before and after appeared to be listed at the original rate. Very disappointing lack of consistency in pricing. This felt like price gouging, so be careful about what you’re paying, especially if booking multiple rooms.

Seide and Mozar went out of their way to make us comfortable during our week there, and I really appreciated that. Most of Key West’s attractions are within walking distance. It was a pleasant stay, and I’d recommend it if you’re visiting Key West.
