The Saint Hotel Key West, Autograph Collection, Adult Only

Gustavo at the valet was wonderful, easily the friendliest employee we met, and Abraham the manager was pleasant and accommodating. The room, though, had nowhere for two people to sit except the bed, which wasn’t ideal. Dinner was disappointing too. We ordered two glasses of wine, a starter, and two entrees. One wine took about 15 minutes and the other half an hour; then the appetizer and both entrees arrived together 45 minutes later. My filet was supposed to be rare but came medium rare, and the waiter couldn’t tell us what side dishes were available. He also wasn’t attentive. This was our third year staying here, and after this visit I may look elsewhere next year.

The lobby and bar have a funky, cute look, while the rooms feel luxurious and beachy. I liked the chaise lounge and mirrored bar, and the pool and rooftop bar were nice. Service at the bar, restaurant, and with getting to and from the room was fabulous, friendly, and helpful. Happy hour was terrific, with great cocktails and food. I’m still thinking about the grilled octopus and its amazing sauce. Breakfast was made to order, with perfect coffee, and available around the clock, though there’s no coffee maker in the room. It’s expensive, but worth it. One thing could’ve been handled better at check-in: as seniors, we were put in a second-floor room by the lounge, so we had to use the stairs in the rain and deal with loud music and noise until late. They could have taken that into consideration.

The Sunday brunch was fantastic. You get two hours to order from a good selection of small plates, and the menu is limited without feeling too limited. The unlimited drinks option, with mimosas or Bloody Marys, is well worth the price.

The pool was a lovely spot to relax, and the place felt clean and friendly from the moment I arrived. I also appreciated that The Saint offers free bike rentals. Bar service was excellent, with a great drink selection and attentive staff. Mike Owens, the bar manager, deserves a special mention for being kind and friendly every time we interacted. He made guests and staff feel welcome and valued. The live music each night added a lively feel and was a great way to unwind after a sunny day. I had a wonderful stay at The Saint in Key West and can’t wait to come back.
