Lake View Inn & Suites

The bed was comfortable, but I won't return or recommend this place. I expected the extra amenities I paid for to work, and I needed to be able to lock the door. The deadbolt didn't work, and there was no chain lock, just the screw holes. The presidential suite had a fancy dingy feel, like it might have been really nice in the 80s. Check-in took over 30 minutes because of an issue with a non-customer credit card system. The jacuzzi had no hot water, and I killed a spider in it. Brown water came out of the regular tub at first, and the room smelled of stale cigarettes. The TV wouldn't work until I reset the router myself.

The location beside the river is nice, and this place could be great with some care and the right owner. As it stands, the room needs maintenance, the flooring is rough, and paint is peeling from the exterior room doors. The electronic key worked only intermittently. There was no coffee maker in the room or coffee in the lobby, and the owner seemed not to care.

It's quiet and comfortable compared with the other hotels around Florence, with spacious, clean rooms and good customer service. The price is reasonable, too. It's just outside town, so you get a nice country feel, while still being close to town and major businesses. One of the best hotels around in every category.

The view is beautiful, right on the water, so the location gets five stars from me. The room was another story: it smelled, the walls had who knows what smeared on them, and neither the tub nor toilet drained properly. The old, nasty kitchen looked like it was from around 1960, and I wouldn't cook in it. Only one light worked in the whole room, and the lounge chair looked so questionable I wouldn't put my bags on it. Check the reviews before booking. They asked for a $20 cash deposit at check-in, so bring cash or you're out of luck. The pool sign said it was open until 10pm, but the owners were using it at 6pm and had locked the gate when they got out. At 7, it was still locked. We also tried the "complimentary" breakfast at 6:30am, but there was no milk. The lady said they'd already drunk it all and didn't seem to care. We were the only guests yesterday and last night, and there was only one other car in the lot that morning, so who drank all the milk?
