This is an older, no-frills B&B, but it’s a good budget option for a quick visit, especially if you’re traveling with a dog. Chalet Killington is pet friendly, and without traffic the mountain is about a two-minute drive. For an $18 dog fee, they’ll take your dog out twice and give it water while you ski. They also had doggie bags and treats ready for our pup. The room wasn’t fancy and the bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but I slept well, and the bathroom, sheets, and other linens were clean. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is free until 9:30. I got there at 9:25, so I can’t say what the full selection is normally like, but chef Jay apologized that little was left and offered to make us a fresh bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Great hospitality, and the sandwich was delicious. The game room is pretty basic, though there’s ping pong, pool, some board games, and a fireplace lounge. There’s a heated pool, but it was too snowy for us to use it this trip, and I believe there’s an indoor hot tub too. We’d definitely stay again.

We’re already thinking about a trip back next winter. The staff are lovely, and our six-day, five-night stay was great. We could bring our chihuahua, and while we were out snowboarding during the day, they walked the dog for us. Breakfast was amazing every morning: fresh coffee, English Toffee muffins (seriously, I don’t even like sweet things), and made-to-order omelettes cooked just right. There was also French toast, house fries, pancakes, bacon, and sausages. Restaurants are nearby and within walking distance, and the place has a sauna, heated pool, and common room. The people upstairs were probably giants, given how heavy their footsteps were, and they kept slamming doors. That was inconsiderate of them, but it won’t put us off returning to Chalet Killington.

The stay felt warm and welcoming, and the hotel is pet friendly, which was a big plus. We visited during the busy ski season, and breakfast was delicious every morning. The room could use a few more blankets and wasn’t ventilated very well.

The rooms themselves were nothing special, but the price, location, and especially the service made this a great option for a ski trip. The staff went above and beyond. There was made-to-order breakfast at no extra charge, plus dog sitting, a game room, a hot tub, and a heated pool.

For about $100 a night in a ski town, the value is hard to beat. We met lots of cool people, and the burrito restaurant in the hotel was outstanding, as were the drinks. The staff were great, and the breakfast was more than a standard continental spread: along with the usual options, you could get eggs any style, omelettes, home fries, pancakes, or French toast made to order, all included. The hotel is dog friendly, and the pet fee includes staff walking your dog while you’re out. There’s an outdoor heated pool, hot tub, and sauna too. The place looked dated when we arrived, without much charm in its decor, but the experience made up for that. The floors squeak, the rooms aren’t very soundproof, and the furniture is old, although the beds are new. The carpet is worn enough to make the place feel unclean even if it may be clean. Those drawbacks didn’t outweigh the good parts for us, but if they’d bother you, this may not be the right price range.
