Quality Inn King City

The rooms were very clean, and there was a breakfast selection. I picked this hotel for the pool because after hiking at Pinnicale NP in the high heat, I wanted to cool off and relax. The manager seemed nice, but when I told him the pool was filthy, he said the person responsible was on the way in. It still hadn't been cleaned the next morning. When I brought it up, he shrugged me off and asked what was wrong with it. There were piles of dirt along the bottom, green slime all over the sides, and trash floating in the water.

We only stayed because it was near pinnacles. Afterward we noticed all our feet had turned black from the dirty carpets. The bathrooms were worn out too, and the pool was dirty, so we didn't swim. The staff were unfriendly and never smiled. Breakfast was below standard, with no protein. I spoke to management, and they said they'd look into it, but there was no apology or anything.

I’m following up because Google Maps doesn’t let me reply directly to the owner’s comment, and I want others to know the full story and avoid this place. The owner claimed there was a “fire hazard” because I brought an extra bed frame into the room. That isn't true. It was a mattress, not a frame, and it didn't block the A/C or create a safety risk. What concerned me was the owner entering my room without permission. I had paid for my stay, so it was my private space, and his entry could be a legal violation. The housekeepers' “routine cleaning” wasn't what I complained about. My complaint was the owner's aggressive, disrespectful behavior. He barged into the room and blamed me for something unreasonable instead of handling it professionally. The ventilation was in terrible shape. Whenever I used the bathroom, dust settled on the towels, which clearly points to poor maintenance. The dust buildup in the system could also be a health risk and a fire hazard. His response made it seem like he wasn't concerned about these safety issues at all. There was also an extra cash charge taken in an unprofessional way. It didn't feel like a transparent transaction, more like a scam. His dismissive, misleading reply only reinforces my view that management is shady. He deflects blame instead of addressing concerns or taking responsibility. I'd strongly advise people to avoid both the poor conditions and the toxic management.

People complain about so much here, and it feels unrealistic. It's an expensive but very low-budget motel: rude clerks, a straight shower curtain bar, limited three-prong outlets, a cold pool, below-par continental breakfast, a smelly room, an iron locked down on its ironing board, and thin towels. What else is there to complain about? It feels like people are always stealing their stuff, so they protect it. That says something about the kind of clientele. The maid cleaned the room in a limited way every day, for better or worse. Maybe it was just to keep an eye on the room's condition and how it was being used. Don't expect much, even though it's expensive.
