Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Port Orange-Daytona, FL

The laundry room was especially clean, and I felt welcome throughout my stay. Everyone I came across, from the front desk and breakfast staff to housekeeping and maintenance, greeted me warmly. My room was comfortable and clean, breakfast had plenty of choices, and the lobby cookies were delicious. It made for a great stop on my vacation.

We were there while all the ductwork in our home was being replaced, and the whole stay was such a good experience. My two children and I had a double queen room. Natashia always checked whether we needed anything, made my six-month-old smile, and chatted with my son about football. He’s usually so shy that he hardly opens up to people, so seeing him excited to talk with her meant a lot. I’m sorry I can’t remember the front desk gentleman’s name, but he was so friendly and kind to my son too. The room was clean, and both the room and beds were comfortable, more than I expected. Breakfast was a free buffet with eggs, waffles, sausage, bagels, cereal, muffins, coffee, and OJ. There was also coffee, tea, and cookies downstairs every day from 2 to 10 p.m. I’ve managed in retail and colleges for years, and I hope the higher-ups see how well these staff members are doing. If we need a hotel in the area again, we’ll definitely come back to the Country Inn & Suites.

We were close to both Daytona and New Smyrna, the two places we visited, and the area itself was quiet. There’s a CVS next door, which was handy. The TV wasn’t smart, but it had plenty of channels, and I liked having a proper thermostat on the wall instead of one of those big window or wall units. After a run of disappointing hotels and Airbnbs around FL, this place felt like a blessing. It was clean and comfortable, and the hot tub and pool were working. The staff were nice and helpful. The one thing I wasn’t keen on was the complimentary breakfast, especially the odd 1% white milk and fat-free chocolate milk. The food was so-so, but I’d stay here again. It was the best place of the whole trip.

The room was great, and the staff were really nice and accommodating. Breakfast, though, was horrible, so that brings this down to three stars for me. At this price, I’d look elsewhere if you want breakfast included.
