I was told the dog had been hidden in room 209 for months, and the smell of dog feces coming from there was strong enough to reach my nearby room. I also saw a worker in 209 who was so intoxicated she couldn't walk, while a man kept handing her shots of whisky. My next call will be to the animal cruelty department at the pound.
We left and asked for a refund after seeing the condition of the room. There were hairs in the shower, no towels or washcloths, and a plate of old food in the microwave. As we walked out, Rachel passed us carrying fresh linens and smoking on the third floor, even though she'd said that was the only nonsmoking floor. We had waited 30 minutes after check-in for her to say the room was ready, then found it clearly hadn't been cleaned. This was in January, and I hope things have changed since. We'd called ahead, and the front desk had sounded professional and eager to book us. The hotel is dated, but given the price, I wasn't concerned about that or the outside. The lobby, though, was filthy and hit us with cigarette smoke as soon as we entered. We were willing to overlook that despite the hotel's advertised smoking policy. After waiting 10 minutes for Rachel to come down, she explained the housekeeper had left and she had to clean the room herself, which would take another 10 minutes. We said that was fine, since we understood they were short staffed. We had asked for a first floor nonsmoking room, but were told the only nonsmoking rooms were on the third floor, so we chose one there. Awful experience. I'd give zero stars if I could. Spend a couple more dollars and stay across the street.
The room was spacious and had everything we needed, and the older facility was reasonably priced for a budget stay. We also felt able to relax overnight because the parking lot had camera security. When we checked out, Gary was friendly and straightforward about how things operated. He spoke proudly about the improvements underway to make guests' stays better. Rachel and the rest of the staff welcomed us right from our call to ask about availability. We had two small concerns once checked in, and both were handled immediately. The staff are amazing. Thanks to Rachel and everyone there. We'd stay again.
After a long drive I was frustrated, and Mindy was really kind and understanding with me.
After a 12-hour drive, I was told at the desk that pets were allowed but had to weigh ten pounds or less. That limit wasn't anywhere in my reservation, even though I booked because the listing said “pet friendly” and “pets allowed.” I was turned away in an unfamiliar city and a bad neighborhood. I tried sleeping in my car, then saw what looked like a drug deal in the hotel parking lot and left. When I got home, I found I'd been charged for the night. I've spoken with three people, and they don't seem willing to refund me. I'm still waiting for a call about whether they'll reimburse me. No service was provided because I was turned away, so this is unacceptable. As of November 2024, the website still only says the place is “pet friendly.” I've contacted the BBB and am still fighting to get my money back. This is a horrible business practice.
