Hampton Inn Kingsland

Good stop on the way to Florida, with a nice mix of price, location, and quality. The location is handy for the highway and affordable gas stations. The outdoor pool was open in the morning and looked nice, but we didn't have time to use it, so I can't rate it. The room was quiet and clean, with comfortable beds, crisp white linens, a big TV, and an AC and small fridge that worked okay. The bathroom was clean and the shower had strong water pressure. We especially liked the quiet, fresh smell, and the decorated lobby and cafe area. The Easter bunny theme and candles were cute for the holiday, and complimentary hot coffee and tea in the evening were welcome after a long drive. Check-in was nice too. Breakfast was standard; I liked the waffles with the tasty, not-too-sugary strawberry jam. The floor around the waffle maker was sticky, though. The bathroom and towels seemed dated, and the towels weren't so soft or white anymore. There was no shower gel, the sink water was weak, and the carpet and a chair looked old and dirty.

Breakfast was nice, and Kodi and Whitney were helpful and kind. But at $141, I expected a nicer room. The toilet ran and half-flushed all night, the TV had the poorest channel selection I've ever had, and the microwave had a lock on it. I had to get the desk woman to come unlock my food. It was a miserable night. They asked why I hadn't requested another room or someone to fix the toilet. I'm 76, had already carried all my things in and settled down, and was exhausted. I also doubt it would've been a quick fix. Given all that, I think I deserved a good discount or a free night. In reply to their response: I would not lie about the toilet running and half-flushing all night. I tried jiggling the handle, and it kept doing it. I also wouldn't make up seeing LOC appear when I tried several times to open the microwave. I'm so mad at myself for not taking a picture. The desk woman who came to unlock it said she'd never seen one locked like that and thought it might be because it sat so low to the floor and they wanted to keep kids from opening it. Ask her. Wow.

Very clean and quiet, with a good breakfast and helpful staff. I'd stay again. One small technical snag: rooms on the east side may pick up the same Wi-Fi name as the next-door Spark hotel, also part of Hilton, and that causes connection glitches on your device.

Everything was good, and the breakfast area was clean, with a clean waffle iron and good breakfast. The room was definitely very clean too. But the bed was as hard as concrete, and I slept miserably. The cleanliness was the part I was happiest with; that bed was just horrendous.
