The bathroom was otherwise very clean, but we did find what looked like blood splatter, which was unsettling. The room itself was plain and not especially comfortable or plush, though it was perfectly serviceable for one night and better than I expected for the price. We’d booked through Expedia and had a hotel confirmation, yet the staff couldn’t locate our reservation when we arrived. Expedia helped sort it out, and the service stayed very friendly despite the mix-up.

There’s a lot of potential at Magnolia Inn. Keeping the noise down, enforcing the rules, and clearing things away from outside the guest rooms would make a real difference. With that, this could be more than a two-star hotel.

Magnolia inn became home for my mom and me when we were homeless here two years ago, while traveling through Georgia and planning to pass by. The owner worked with us and gave us a chance to get back on our feet, and the staff have been friendly and great. We’ve had clean rooms with new sheets and no roaches, and the pool has been a blessing for cooling off after work. It’s been a welcome home for us during this time.
