Super 8 Kingston

I’m an 80 year old world traveler, and this was the nicest small hotel I’ve stayed in. We came across it while driving Route 40 and needed somewhere to sleep. It was quiet and very affordable, beautifully decorated on the outside, freshly painted, and immaculately clean inside and out. Breakfast was simple but fresh, with a good cold selection.

Matthew checked me in on one of my visits and was welcoming, helpful, and professional. The evening desk clerk, Amber? I may have the name wrong, was patient and kind with all my questions. As a healthcare traveler between two cities, I appreciated that. My ground-floor room was cozy and warm, even at 70°, with a good heater, thick pillows, and comfy covers.

After the first room's refrigerator turned out not to work, I was moved to another one. That room smelled strongly of dogs, and it set off my allergies. There were extension cords running through the area from a room to someone's boat, creating tripping hazards all over. I spoke with the owner, who said she'd come talk to me, but I still haven't seen her. She said there were no dogs, though my nose and allergies told me otherwise. For $96 a month, you'd expect better.

The room was clean and cute, and better than decent, with a little fridge, microwave, and a nice big bathroom with a roll-in shower. The coffee situation was a deal breaker for me: there wasn't any in the room, and what they had in the lobby was lukewarm. Breakfast was just bags of oatmeal and granola bars. It was okay.
