Motel 6 Kingsville, TX

For the low price, it was okay. The pool wasn’t open, and there was a chair so badly broken that it would have folded in half if I hadn’t noticed before sitting down. The room’s condition made me want to take pictures. Still, for what it cost, it was okay overall.

The mini fridge leaked onto the floor and made the room smell bad, and the phone to call the desk didn’t work. I went down to try canceling again, got the same runaround for nearly two hours, and they eventually gave me another room. There was no hot water. I felt unclean and very disappointed, away from home with no other options. I’d booked online hoping to use the pool and even bought a swimsuit, but when I arrived the pool was green and out of order. The lobby ice machine was leaking and smelled moldy. I tried to cancel through the third-party booking company, but the front desk and the company kept passing responsibility back and forth. I called the desk repeatedly and sent emails while on the phone with the booking company and standing in front of the desk attendant, asking the front desk to approve my cancellation and refund. They supposedly couldn’t find those messages, though they did find an email saying they’d tried to contact me. The booking company said they often have this issue with this location. Without money for another place, I had to take the room.

The location was the only good part of my week-long work stay at this Motel 6. At $35 a night, you get what you pay for, but I still didn’t expect to sleep around bugs. My room was dirty and only cleaned once the whole week. I found small roaches, other bugs, and even a poisonous spider in the bathroom. I’m giving one star, and that’s just for the location. Everything else was a complete disappointment.

We had around 15 guys check in, and the service was great. A few rooms were missing things, but we just asked the front desk and they sorted it within minutes. The hotel was quiet, there was no drama, and the rooms were cleaned daily or every other day. Everything worked. I travel for blue collar work, and the price was very reasonable. For a fairly cheap roadside hotel, it was pretty good.
