Americas Best Value Inn Kinston

I was in room 137. Around 3 a.m. Saturday, I woke up itching, turned on the light, and saw marks on my arm and thighs. There were bed bugs under the sheets. I went straight to the front desk and showed the employee what I’d found. He said the manager would arrive at 7, so I came back a little after then. Another employee told me the manager wasn’t there and he didn’t know when they’d be available. They said they’d call once the room had been inspected, but nobody ever did. I’ve been trying to reach them since I left at 3 a.m. I asked for half my money back because I had to leave in the middle of the night. It’s Tuesday morning now and I still haven’t heard anything. I’ve been patient, but nobody has contacted me. My next step is to call a news outlet, and I’ll include a picture of me at the desk that Saturday morning.

The room smelled fresh and was clean over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The housekeeper was really polite, and so was the rest of the staff. I’ll have to show my face here again. Five stars.

They could get a lot more value out of the rooms if they ditched those blankets that look like they’re from the 1980s.

The location wasn’t good, and my request for one extra hour at checkout turned into a problem. I’d driven for 12 hours and was told the late checkout should be fine. The next day, though, I was told to leave or they’d call the police. I stayed four days. Giving me that extra hour would’ve been a considerate thing to do. I won’t come back, and I’d suggest avoiding the place.
