Crowne Plaza Knoxville Downtown University by IHG

We had a clean, comfortable room with a lovely view across the street to Market Square, where we went shopping, had dinner, and took an evening stroll among friendly locals and other visitors. Service at the Crown Plaza Bar was excellent. The bartender was pleasant and professional, and had plenty of great stories and anecdotes. We really recommend the Crown Plaza Hotel, and checking out the variety of food and merchandise at Market Square.

At about 2:20 AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, I woke up because of a medical issue that causes my blood sugar to drop. I should have been better prepared. I went downstairs and asked for orange juice or something from the locked Gift shop. The night clerk responded immediately, went to get a bottle of orange juice, and made sure I got what I needed. I asked her to charge it to my room, but she was focused on helping me. Her urgency and concern deeply impressed me. I've stayed at many high-end hotels, but never met someone with such empathy, like an angel. I thank Hotel Management for hiring such a wonderful person. Troy Martin Room 412

We were happy with the location, and both the hotel and rooms seemed very nice. The problem started around 9:30, when a group of about ten people moved into the Suite across the hall after a party downstairs at the bar. With the doors shut, they were still loud enough for us to hear their conversation clearly. I called the desk and spoke with the manager. She knew about the party and said they either had an association with the General Manager or had one, and should know better. It never got quieter; more people arrived. Someone banged on the door yelling for room service, and I heard a man say the people across the hall had complained. Others talked about getting more beer or even a keg. I called again to ask if the manager had told them who complained. She said she'd told them it wasn't the room next to them. I pointed out that left our room across the hall as the only option. She realized her mistake and apologized. We ended up leaving and are now waiting 7 to 12 days for a refund from Booking.com. These appeared to be professional adults, but they showed no respect for the other guests. I'm sure a stay here on another day or night would meet a traveler's needs very well. We just didn't get to enjoy it.

JoAnn at the front desk was such a cheerful welcome after our long, stressful trip. She was very kind, offered recommendations if we wanted to go out, and made sure we knew what amenities were available at the property. The rooms were clean, and the location was great. On-site parking felt safe and secure, with just a short walk to the lobby. There are lots of good places for food and drinks within walking distance, or you can just stay on site.
