Motel 6-Kokomo, IN

I was having a rough day before I arrived, and Tanna, the manager at the front desk, lifted my spirits right away with how warm and welcoming she was. She was one of the friendliest and most helpful staff I've met. Check-in was easy and quick, the room spotless, and the beds comfortable. My stay at this Motel 6 was pleasant and affordable, so I'll definitely come back.

We often stay at this hotel because it's cheap, though there's nothing special about it. This afternoon we were in the parking lot for a while: I was looking up Motel 6 prices to find the cheapest deal, and my husband was lying back in the driver's seat. A man I assume was maintenance came over suddenly and knocked hard on our window. My husband lowered it, and the man sternly told us we couldn't just sit there. We were startled, said we'd leave, and did. We weren't causing any trouble. We come here often, but this will affect whether we stay again.

There were cockroaches, and they offered only a 40 dollar refund. They didn't seem to care even when we brought them a roach in a cup. The whole experience was disgusting and a huge disappointment. We were told to leave our towels in the hall for replacements, but they stayed there until we checked out. The place smelled of smoke, weed, and cat pee. Whenever we called the desk, nobody answered. When we went up, staff were sitting outside the door smoking cigarettes right behind the desk, and the whole lobby smelled like an ashtray. We knew people who had to buy scent plug-ins for their rooms.

The staff were super friendly, and the room had everything I needed: microwave, TV, mini fridge, lots of lights, and plenty of outlets by the bed for charging. The bed was quite comfy for me, the pillows were great, and the shower was clean with nice pressure. For a cheap, safe place to sleep indoors while traveling, I'd normally give it five stars. But the cigarette smell was overpowering, like someone had just smoked in the room, and it made my sinuses miserable because of my allergies. The windows had no screens when I opened them to air the room out, which was disappointing. It's not a luxury place, but please do something about that smoke smell, even Febreze when cleaning or in the rooms would help.
