Pearl Street Hotel & Suites

We booked a two-bed room, but at check-in were told they only had a king room and no other rooms available. That didn’t work for us with a teenage boy, so they offered a blowup mattress. The bathroom door was completely broken and hard to open and close, the full-length mirror was broken at the bottom, and the bed spring siding looked awful. When I went to the desk, the first guy seemed to know what I meant as soon as I gave him my room number. Another man, who I assume was a manager, acted like he had no idea, though it was a cleaned room. They offered to move us to a Holiday Inn five minutes away, but we were here for an expo at the convention center across the street, so that would have been inconvenient. They sent a handyman up, who fixed the door as much as possible. The whole situation was ridiculous. Renovations are happening, and my husband got a peek at some rooms with the handyman. I hope they can turn things around, but I won’t be back. The photos don’t do it justice. Update: At 2am, after my shower, I found a cockroach in the sink. Owner, please don’t tell me the room may not have been used in a while and a cockroach came up the drain. We’re on the fifth floor, and I’ve run lots of water through the sink since we arrived today. My husband and I are deciding whether to leave and find somewhere else. I know it’s 2 AM, but this is my last straw.
