Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines

Charles at valet was consistently welcoming and friendly, and his positive energy made us smile every time we arrived. We had plenty of nearby dining options, and the hotel itself was peaceful despite its convenient location. I surprised my boyfriend with a birthday golf trip, and our stay at Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines made it feel easy and special. Booking a tee time was simple and seamless, and the spacious, spotless, comfortable room was just right for relaxing after a long day on the course. We’d gladly stay again and recommend it for a relaxing getaway or special occasion.

The setting beside the golf course, overlooking the coast, is beautiful. Getting there can be tricky, though, with few direct routes and a layout that’s confusing if you don’t know the area. My recent stay at the Hilton Torrey Pines was decent, but it didn’t feel like a luxury resort. The rooms were clean but dated and fairly ordinary, more like a business hotel than a resort. Service was average: people were polite but not especially attentive, and we waited a surprisingly long time for a server during happy hour. It’s clean and reliable, and could work well for business travelers or golfers, but people wanting a high-end resort may want to look elsewhere.

The hotel is old and clearly needs renovation, but they still seem to squeeze out every extra dollar. We were charged an unexpected $40 per night resort fee that no one had mentioned, and only noticed it when it came out of our deposit. Parking is another $50 per night. We won’t be back.
