Comfort Inn Lacey - Olympia

I only needed somewhere to sleep for one night, and this was the cheapest option close to where I needed to be. Check-in was easy, and the motel was fine for that purpose, but pretty ordinary. The pool area across from the elevator smelled like feet and wet dog. The shower had just one cloth curtain, which got wet and made showering feel odd. The bed was firm, and the pillows didn’t support my neck, so I stacked several and still woke up sore. If you have thick hair, bring shampoo. I forgot mine and ran out mid-shower, though that part was on me since I rarely stay in motels or hotels.

The room was shabby and smelled bad, with something on the floor that looked like blood. The front desk said it was marker and gave me a small discount. Our bathroom was missing the shampoo container, and the conditioner was nearly empty. The door needed a hard push before it would latch or lock. I didn’t feel safe here. There were homeless people in the parking lot and one sleeping in an enclosed gazebo on the property. I saw a homeless person in the lobby at check-in, possibly someone living in a van in the lot. Someone ran through the halls singing all night. The hotel really needs security. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The employees were amazing, but the rooms weren’t very good and the location wasn’t great either. There’s a lot of traffic along the main highway in Lacey, Washington, and I wish I’d known that before staying here. The hotel could use a lot of renovation. I was in town for a rally in Olympia. I might look for a place north or south next time, probably north since I’m coming from that direction and there are likely other hotels there. I can’t say I’d return.

Jennifer, the front desk lady, made my day. She was so welcoming as soon as I came in, helped me find my room, and pointed out what I could do there and when breakfast was. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels, and her customer service was easily the best. Keep smiling, Jennifer. You’re doing an amazing job, and deserve a raise!
